Chapter 1

17 year old Floridan Ruby Alcott wakes up in the hospital to find both her legs amputated at the knee. The last thing she can remember is walking home from school. After learning how to walk again on new prosthetics, she returns home, detached from the world and lonely. Ruby decides to sign up for a pen pal program in hopes of finding a friend. Enter Michael, a budding voice actor from Georgia looking to make a difference in someone's life. As the teens navigate life through their letters, what starts as a simple pen pal match soon blossoms into something much more.
