Description

I was moved to write the poem "A Man of Two Minds" in observation of a recent bend and then rise followed by another bend of my moods. In times of great swings, I find my muse likes to speak to me through poems in relation to figures of Greek mythology, which is why Hades (lowest level) and Apollo (mania) are referenced as well as others. Needing to learn how to explain it best, I had to do a bit of digging out of newer Olympians and mythology members that I was not as familiar with; I am referencing that to Nyx and Morpheus. It was a great opportunity for me to read and learn. My therapy, when I am cycling heavy, usually comes in through as a major burst of poems. This process for me is best related by Elizabeth Gilbert's TedTalk when she shared her experience in learning from the poetic process of poet Ruth Stone. For me, I just will be lingering around, lost in thought, and then a rumble produces within my chest and must be released out of my fingers or else it will die, and I will feel its death. For those not familiar with this talk by Elizabeth Gilbert, please find the video here (the piece in reference is at minute ten): TedTalk: Your elusive creative genius | Elizabeth Gilbert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86x-u-tz0MA Thank you for your time in reading my work, and I would love to hear from you. Feedback is a necessary process in the growth and development of all people. So, thank you. -Moony Thinker Image reference: Photo by Matthew Ansley on Unsplash
