Second chances were rare on the Ark, more precious than going back to earth. For me, both were possible, I should have been floated on my eighteenth birthday; in three weeks time. Today I was given my first real possibility at freedom from the controlling environment of the Ark, the repulsive memories of my mother and the endlessly torment of the hangman's noose.
