Sir Oswald Wealwright, pioneering industrialist and eligible bachelor, has never had any truck with occult nonsense or peasant superstitions. His manservant, abysmal poet and incorrigible daydreamer Johnny Burslem, thinks of little else.

Which is why, when a letter arrives sprouting moss and rust and demanding payment of an inexplicable debt, only one of the two men is prepared for the strange journey they must undertake.
