Book one: High School - Chapter 1

Ella West, she had grown up in New York City with her two brothers and single father. For as long as she could remember she had wanted to flee from her lonely high school filled with ghosts from the past.
Jacob Bentley grew up on a ranch in Colorado. He was the golden boy everyone loved.
The two of them seem impossibly different.
They meet when they are both assigned a pen pal writing assignment in their senior year of high school. Even though they live two thousand miles apart from each other Ella comes to rely on Jacob for support and friendship. Years before she had lost her only friends, making her want to do anything just to have somebody. Jacob stands by Ella's side as she finds herself again. Together they navigate relationships, family problems, and the idea of leaving for college.
After high school, Jacob does the one thing Ella would never expect him to do. He leaves her, not responding to another email. Feeling betrayed by her best friend, Ella starts hating Jacob. But after the two meet again can they fix the broken pieces of their past.
