Darkness.

Something far too easy to befriend.

It can latch onto your heart, creating a river weaving through the past.

It can pull you along its currents made stronger by grief, anger, regret.

Drag you into its path, narrowed by one focus heightened by the thirst for revenge.

But sometimes that path isn't as clear as it may have originally appeared.

Though neither, it seems, is that of light.
