Tharn was a hopeless romantic. He wanted to experience a love like the one that his parents has. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that he was eager to fall in love and spend the rest of his life with "The One". So when he is approached by the most unlikely of men, instead of being guarded, he opened his heart and let it guide the way. Type was the definition of trouble and he was looking to cause some damage. Someone owed him a debt and it didn't matter who was going to pay.
