Whilst entrapped in a tremendous chaos created by the ancestors of Carter's Lane, she was continously played with her trust and betrayed by people closest to her, people whom she once saw as family. She has watched kids laugh outside their homes and cry themselves to sleep when inside. She's seen innocent people getting killed for no valid reason. She has witnessed kids end their lives in front of her eyes because they saw no choice of being able to live freely. Now that she's manged to escape from the nightmarish town, Jocelyn has challenged herself on protecting her loved ones from danger that's following her with every of her steps while keeping an old promise. She is dedicated to risk everything on helping them who are suffering with no reason since she was once like them and she's felt the pain. The only way out of the mess was righting an ancient mistake and ending the nauseating traditions practiced in Carter's Lane. But could Jocelyn possibly fight it alone when those mistakes were planned and made so cleverly that it was impossible to get rid of them?
