Wealth brings greed and greed is never a great thing, is it? But Nick is not greedy, Nick's sin is Envy but the reason he has this sin, despite being so innocent, is because of his greedy abusive father.
Wealth also brings loneliness and living such a life with envy etched into his brain is not what you'd want.
