Prologue

When I was a child, my father would tell me stories about red-lipped princesses and dark-haired knights. It was in one of these stories that I first learned about demons. He told me they were normal people who had been driven to do unspeakable things by their lust for power. But, as I grew older, I learned to have that kind of power a terrible price must be paid.

I should know. I paid it.
