Abel Fox has spent his life (so far) confused about who he is. He has never felt attracted to other people, and he's never heard of anyone who has felt that way. He feels completely alone.

The one person he becomes attracted to, makes him feel even more ashamed.

Growing up in a religious home has drilled into his head that certain ways of living are that of sin.

[Basically, Abel is demi-sexual: a form of asexuality where the person doesn't feel sexually attracted to others and if they do, it's after they've already developed an emotional bond with that person]
