Take 36 vulnerable 8th graders and dare them to stay in an assigned clique of 8 for the entire 9th grade. You get the start of HomeGirls and DopeBoys. This series chronologizes the life and friendships of 36 boys and girls, and then some, from 8th grade to adulthood. No one is making them stay in these cliques after 9th grade but when things turn serious and as the school years go by the mentality of being and sticking in these cliques gets the best of them.
