When an RK800 is assigned to investigate all criminal cases involving androids, Maxine Day is once again brought in for questioning.

Her past offences for harbouring deviants makes her a lead in an investigation surrounding a violent android, model WR400.

The android, registered under the name North, is one of the leaders and instigators in a mass rebel uprising. Without meaning to be, Maxine is swept up in a revolution she helped create.
