Love was something neither Lilith or Zelda knew anything about.
Zelda wants 'Mary Wardwell' and Lilith wants Zelda but she also wants the throne. After Zelda gets rejected, she marries Faustus.
But Lilith realizing Zelda's feelings for her and turns her back on Lucifer, now knowing her self worth. She seeks Zelda out and saves her from Faustus' spell.
