Part 1 -- Now -- Chapter 1

I'm not actually a fully developed woman. I suppose, depending on your definition, I'm not actually human. The word some of us use to describe it is "Changed," or "The Changed." I was Changed into what I am. What I am is a bit difficult to define. Before I was Changed I was a girl, almost a woman.

I eat food, drink water, need warmth, and protection from the elements. "If you prick us, do we not bleed," sorry couldn't resist. And yes we bleed. There's very little difference between me and any other person really. I heal quickly, seem to have more energy, require less sleep. I'm smarter than most. I know more. Well, I've consumed the lives' knowledge of countless men. I read minds. My brain must be somehow enhanced: how else can it hold all that knowledge? I don't age. In exchange for this, I feed off the energy of others. I can't Change someone: make them like myself. Not intentionally anyway. And yes, over the years, I have tried. I don't kill people, usually; although I can. I am not immortal - I can and one day will die.
