It is the year 2208, and the government has been waging a war against writers for more than 100 years. It started with his Great-Great-Grandfather, Nevik Tru, and it's continuing with him once his father, Bandit Tru, is arrested for distributing harmful matter. Techno Tru has been standing on the sidelines of the war since he was a child, but now that his father will soon be on trial, he's the only one who can continue the fight for writers all over the world. He's only sixteen years old, but he's determined to be a powerful soldier in this war. The War of Pages started back in 2099 when Nevik was a young and upcoming writer, but before he could publish his first book, the government launched an all-out attack on all writers all over the world. The written word was criminalized, and even The Bible was under attack. As a matter of fact, being caught with a bible would send you right to the executioner. That was when Nevik formed his own army, but many of them died in the process. After one of the largest literature raids in history, Techno is caught with a copy of Nevik's journal. To save himself, his family, and the world, Techno accepts one last job from a young woman by the name of Veina Kythe, who is part human and part alien from the now-destroyed planet of Athenexar. Even though he doesn't trust her entirely, he agrees to help her if she will help him in turn. But there's a problem with that. All the known copies of The Bible have GPS trackers on them, so the moment you touch them, you are marked for the rest of your short life. With her powers of teleportation and time travel, Veina sends them back to the 1960s to find a copy that can't be tracked. That is where they meet Mary Worthington, the real-life manifestation of the Bloody Mary legend. After her death, she traps them in time until they are successful in helping her regain her lost beauty.
