Chapter 1.

August has it all figured out. Graduate high school, move far from home, and get away from his abusive dad for the rest of his life. Only problem is, he's a D average student with no money. So he gets it the best way he knows how, selling weed and whatever else he can scrape up.

Then there's Sunshine Anderson, his snarky new neighbor with red hair who stares too much and talks too loud. She lives up to her name and he hates it. So when August finds himself in a bind that could cost him his life, and using Sunshine is the only way to get out of it, he's hesitant. But when she seems to be the only person who understands him, guilt from his true intentions eat him alive. How can he keep her from finding out his plans and still stay alive?
