Description
Lorelan is what his last name suggests; a little grey piece of paper being pushed around by the masses that inhabit Arenli. Those masses include predominantly his aunt Marn, who orders him around like nobody's business. On most days, Lorelan goes through the city doing errands -- or rather, pretending to do them -- but whenever Aunt Marn is dead drunk, she teaches him a little something from her past: magic. After Lorelan accidentally saves a real wizard, to the palace he is dragged, by a man who is apparently determined to see him trained. Soon Lorelan discovers that the glittering walls and crystal vases are not all they seem. A darker figure lurks behind the grandeur of the royal court, and as Lorelan realizes the extent of his powers, so do his enemies. But doesn't every boy needs a good old-fashioned adventure?
