The fur trade was the driving force of expansion in North America in the 1700s. French and British scoured and carved the lands; looking for this valuable resource. But not all of the people that claimed Rupert's Lands were adventurous fur traders. Some helped run general stores, inns, and taverns in the small landings. One of these individuals was Theodosia Foster. Past the prime age of marriage, Theodosia avoided all suitors like the plague. Scared of being tied down and dictated by a man, she ran 'Elswer' a small inn for local buyers to lodge during business negotiations. But Theodosia couldn't help but feel like something was missing.
