She was as her name suggested, a small and fragile leaf being carried off by the winds violent gusts. Twisting and turning never able to forge her own path. As I watched her sitting on the cracked sidewalk hunched over, the violent sobs wracking her body almost completely drowned out by echoing claps of thunder, her body soaked by the rain causing the thin t-shirt and shorts to cling to her overly small body as she finally let the heavy weight she'd been shouldering force her to her knees. I pretended not to see her fall apart, leaning against the gate that secured the compound. My arms crossed over my chest I let the freezing droplets of water cascade over me with no emotion.
