Chapter 1

Joseph Capurso, an Italian immigrant works under the streets of New York City fixing the subway cars. He has dreams of going to college someday but knows that it's not possible. His family doesn't have the money to send him.
After the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor, Joseph and his family are tracked down by American soldiers. They are accused of being spies for Italy since they were born there. To prove his family's innocence, he's forced to join the war. Joseph being too young to be drafted lies about his age to protect his family. In the war, Joseph comes to find that no one is who they say they are and learns the reality of the real world. He'll do anything for the ones he loves even if it means killing.
