His arm rested across my shoulders, hanging around my neck. I held his hand in mine, while my other held my hip conjoined with his, "Do you think we'll grow old together?" my light voice rang through the air, my eyes squinted in the sunlight as I gazed up at him. He looked at me thoughtfully before forcing himself to look away with sorrow. I knew what he was thinking about. "If I make it back, I'll expect nothing else but to be with you forever." He removed his arm from around me, grabbing both of my hands in his, entangling our fingers together. His focus remained on the ground after, and I ducked my face underneath his to get him to look at me again.
