Sophie is a girl living in the 19th century, who has always been weak due to her heart illness. Unlike her older sisters, she has always been sheltered by her parents, always feeling trapped and feeling happy at the slightest sign of freedom. But soon, she receives a strange gift in a form of a young man. A man who is supposed to save her despite his true nature. A man, whose dark secrets may destroy her. And a man who in the end, isn't human at all.
