Nightmares

The abrupt, startling silence of the force bond alarmed Rey.

She wasn't ready for this, not now, not ever. She had better things to do on the Falcon than talk to Ben. He'd murdered Han Solo, made his choice, betrayed her, and slaughtered half the Resistance. She faced the wall, unwilling to face him, unwilling to hear his mockery of her, of the people who he'd killed. But his voice never reached her. He didn't speak. Rey was tempted to turn around and ask why, what did he want from her, but a sound she hadn't been expecting, a terrible, strangled cry, penetrated the suffocating noiselessness of the room. A cry of fear.
