Eren used to love roses. The sweet, tangy scent, the seductive and alluring aroma which surrounds the closing petals. The blood red coating which clashes with the bright green stem. The sharp thorns and bright green stem which help the flower reach the sun for energy and light. They used to be terribly beautiful. However now they were just a painful reminder. A reminder for which Eren did not need. Roses are supposed to represent love. Are supposed to be symbolic towards love and care, showing your lover just how much you really appreciate their existence. They are at once a symbol of purity and a symbol of passion, heavenly perfection and earthly passion; virginity and fertility; death and life. They do NOT represent apologies. Especially when half-hearted. - This is an original Riren story previously made by my good friend, Katie @Fall1ingSoftly (formerly xXxRogueYaoiGirlxXx in AO3). The reason why I republished and adopted it here is because, her works along with her account in AO3 is sadly already been deleted so I decided to post it here in her stead because I really love this story and it's a pity that it's no longer available anymore in AO3.
