Prologue

War.

War spilled over the horizon. Humans against supernaturals, death, and destruction, they were abundant in my world. The world was pushing to a tipping point.

Pregnant and estranged from my child's father, I tried to defend all that I knew and all that I had, fending off attacks at every turn. My world was in upheaval. I had always wanted children, but I hadn't expected the calamity that they might emerge to.

Order and Chaos--Fate itself--were brewing tension. Something was coming, something big that would change the world as we all knew it.
