Chapter 1

Growing up in a small town can be difficult for anyone but for Caroline Cleary, it is nothing short of a nightmare. Whispers and stares follow her every move when she dares to enter town and silence is the only sound that keeps her company at home. Clouds seem to constantly hang overhead and with no friends save the horse and two goats she is charged with taking care of, Caroline has resigned herself to the dreary life she has lived since childhood. Everything changes one day when the new boy in town decides to befriend her. As Caroline discovers more about herself with the help of her first friend will she be able to return to the solitude of the life she has always lived or will her life change forever?
