Extended Summary

The local cafe down the street has always been a safe haven for twenty-one year old Roxie Wilson, as well as many others. One day, however, Roxie encounters two enigmas in the cafe -- Mikey, the boy in the back corner table who cries everyday with a pencil in one hand and a journal in the other, and Meera, the sour waitress who seems to be stitched together with bitterness. When the three of them take a step towards each other, it is discovered that they all have one thing in common -- they are all looking for shelter from the storm called "Life." As the storm grows worse, the three grow closer together and learn to build shelters for one another, working to face the storm together.
