17 year old, gay man Salem James Anderson was raised by his dad, Stephan. Salem's dad also raised three younger children; two daughters and one son.

His mum, Shannon, left when he was only 10 years old but the worst part is the day she left was his sister's 8th birthday. She said she was going to the store to buy ice cream that she 'forgot' but she never returned; she wasn't killed, she just left.

Salem was the oldest at 10 years old, Sabine was 8 years old, Serena was 6 years old and Sammie was 6 years old.

Brody Michael James is 18 years old and is questioning his sexuality when he transfers to a new school and sees Salem . Brody moves to his new home and school after his parents divorce and he and his dad want a fresh start.
