Chapter 1: Memories of Mother

"When mammals die and start to decompose, they release odors that are very specific to them. In other words, no other smell on earth is akin to it. That's why we're so drawn to the dead, we can smell them from miles around; humans exude quite the interesting scent as well. No other animal smells like them, and they taste exquisite. That's what makes the chase all the more worth it."
There was a time when I once thought death would be my salvation, a time when I once thought that I could escape my past, escape my demons but I can't, no matter how hard I try.
