How do you know what's good or what's bad? Lying is bad but sometimes it can be viewed as good. So what is it then? Is it good or is it bad?

This is what Ten have been struggling with all his life, being in an organization that have tested and experimented on him since they took him in when he was little and going on missions that they sent him out to do, sometimes having to kill people. They say it's for a good cause, but why is S.H.E.I.L.D (along with countless other organizations and the police) after them? What he was doing was good.
