Prologue

When her father dies unexpectedly on a hiking trip, Caroline starts asking hard questions that come up with no definitive answers. Her Aunt Sue insists she's in denial and should let her father rest but Caroline has never been one to let sleeping dogs lie, no matter how dangerous the search for answers becomes.

Caroline Talltree-Young moves to Forks to live with her Aunt Sue and her boyfriend, Charlie. Emily and her pack of friends try to keep her close, but Caroline can't give them more of her until she finds out once and for all who - or what - killed her father and why they're trying to cover it up.
