Ash Ketchum was just a spitting image of Red Ketchum. Ash wanted to be the best but most if the time he was pitied and babied due to being in his father shadow. They had a great relations and Red left to the top of the world. Ash works himself everyday to be the strongest so he isn't remembered by his father but by his own accomplishments.
