After Rich's suicide attempt, Jake Dillinger becomes over-protective of him. Jake wants to make sure Rich feels welcome and accepted as himself--without the help of a Squip. Rich wants to comfort him while his parents are still running from the police. Soon they have a mutual emotional bond. One that will only grow.
