Sierra Montgomery is used to moving around. With an archaeologist for a mother and a major oil corporation manager as a father, ‘settling down’ has never been in their family vocabulary. So when a new job offer calls them to move from the polite, pretty house they’d established in the Oxfordshire countryside to a fancy, comfortable neighbourhood on the Connecticut coast, Sierra doesn’t even blink twice. Encouraged by her mother to make friends and, quote, ‘establish some roots’, she finds herself a job at the exclusive bakery on the waterfront for the summer. There she meets Alex; the tall, teasing and downright sexy Greek-god-lookalike of the town. But soon it becomes clear that Alex has more secrets than Sierra can count, and Westport isn’t the pristine and well off neighbourhood that it first appeared to be. Hidden between the polished boats and private lagoons, grand décor houses and designer bags, there’s a whole lot of mystery in the town; one that starts with Covert and ends in Operations. As Sierra refuses to give up her fight for the truth she discovers that things in Westport are just the tip of the iceberg, and the further she chips away, the more she’s likely to drown.
