Maryam was a twelve-year-old Welsh girl living in Maine. She and her family spoke very little English which was a problem. For her twelfth birthday, Maryam received ink and quill along with a notebook for her studies but instead of using it for English Classes, she used it as a diary. Translated into English, Maryam writes about her daily life but with a twist; the Brits were despised in America.

Why They Were Hated: The British had gone into extreme debt so they asked America to lend them a hand, which America declined. For that, the British had placed taxes which angered the Americans and caused what seemed to be a war.
