The beggar (present/past)

When he reached the top, he slammed the door open then stopped. His eyes quickly adjusted to a man standing on the edge of the wall.
The man was tall and was wearing a long black coat and a black hat with black trousers. His back was facing the boy, he looked over his shoulder to the boy.
The man was wearing glasses and he looked handsome, probably popular among the ladies.
"Give me a reason to keep living," said the man.
The boy was surprised. He tried to think of a reason but nothing came to his mind "how can a suicidal tell you the reason for living" shrugged the boy.
