summery /ˈsʌm(ə)ri/ (adjective) characteristic of, or suitable for summer. ■■■ One summer (or more like seventeen) is all it takes for the lives of Lexy Carter and Ethan Pentelow to change drastically, leaving them to figure out for themselves what went wrong. Where they went wrong. And also, what the f*ck is up with their lives. And maybe, just maybe, they'll figure it out before this summer ends. ■■■ "Hey Lex?" Ethan snapped me out of my thoughts with a hushed whisper. His frantic tone actually worried me a bit. "Um... yeah?" I was confused and probably looked the same. But Ethan just looked at me and then carefully jerked his head towards the direction of the muffled sounds, which were slowly becoming clearer, gesturing me to look at the door as it opened. And just as I looked at it, I wished that I hadn't. I wished that I hadn't given in to my curiosity. I wished to just go back in time and stay back at home. Back at home in Brooklyn. Not here. Not in this problematic town with its ugly truths. And just as I finally came to terms with what my eyes had just seen, I let out a single traitor tear and went against my one and only rule. ■■■
