Kay should be happy, right? After years of tireless studies, she's made her way into the PhD program at humanity's first space academy. But as it turns out, following the prescribed path and checking all the boxes like a good student is no guarantee that your life won't still feel like shit. There are ways out of that, of course--and into a life, a love, and a self that she didn't even think were possible--but only if she can overcome the forces anchoring her to the ground.
