Want the chance to work one-on-one with a 2015 debut Young Adult author? Well then, you've come to the right place! Pitch your short story idea to the Freshman Fifteens right here on Wattpad starting June 30, 2014, and be entered for a chance to become the mentee of a 2015 debut author. Leading up to our debut year, the Freshman Fifteens are focusing on our core mission of giving back to the YA community by working with teen readers as well as teen writers. And that’s where you, the amazing Wattpad community, comes in! Teen short story writers, this time around, we’re specifically looking at you! We’re giving you the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a debut author. You will experience the process of having a book published, from the “query” stage where you pitch us your short story, to getting your “deal” when a Freshman Fifteens author selects you as their mentee, to working with your author as you would a book editor, going through two rounds of revisions, through the copy edit stage, cover reveal, release date, and—finally!—the book launch. If chosen, you will get the chance to be one of us: a 2015 debut author. Your finished fictional short story will be published in an anthology, titled COMMON ROOM, on Wattpad, debuting in January 2015. This is a unique opportunity to be mentored one-on-one by a Young Adult author whose book is being published by one of the big five publishing houses in 2015.
