In a Male dominated country, Females are expected to look and act perfectly.

When young girls turn eighteen, they are taken to be examined based on certain physical qualities. If the girls suffice they are labeled as Asterisks and are considered high in society with the honor to reproduce. Those who do not suffice are called Underscores, and must be killed off immediately by the family so that the girl can't reproduce her terrible traits.
