First days of school are really hard, especially if you're at a new school. Lydia didn't really want to go but she did because of her Mom's encouraging. There she met her new best friend, the daughter of her favorite author.

Throughout the school year, they go through hardships together. Lydia learns the lesson that friends make life better and that certain mysterious boys are actually soft on the inside. But a fight between her and the boy tears them apart and she doesn't know what to do.
