"You're not a charity case, Bellaire." I rose from my seat, looking at her calmly "They're not... We're trying to protect you-" "Don't talk to me as if I'm a fool. I know you hate me, you all do." She laughed self-mockingly, I noticed how forced it sounded and how much her clenched fists were shaking "Why would you protect someone you hate?" "...Because you're family." the youngest in the group spoke up, her light voice cutting through the heavy atmosphere as if it was nothing. "Even monsters take care of their own. Why wouldn't we?" "Family?" She pointed her angry gaze towards her "My family is living a thousand kilometers from here." She took another step back and looked at each one of us "You're not my family. You're monsters." she shook her head, tears now streaming down her face, then she turned around, probably to walk out of the room. Everything else was a blur, but it was at that point that I knew I could never accept that girl as my sister, and I thanked God she didn't know she was. I hope she never does.
