Housekeep, Alice Kinly, arrives at Prescott Manner ready for new experiences. Right away she is taken with the magnificent country mansion as well as the household butler's chocolate brown eyes.

However, she is quick to learn that this is no ordinary manner with no ordinary residents. An independent cook, one energy-filled orphan, a nearly mute butler, and a navy captain locked in the glory days of the past. Will Alice ever fit in here? Has she finally found a home?
