Fame and fortune did not make a human being a good one by any means, Basil Carillo knew that first hand. As the illegitimate son to Hector "Flamboyant" Fawley, Basil's mother has been paid to remain silent during Hector's ministry career as any wind of illegitimate children of the Minister for Magic would take the media by storm. But in the wake of the decision of their parents, the Carillo children live a life of secrets and to Basil's misfortune he has one more to add to his plate. Plagued with lycanthropy shortly after finishing his education, Basil is unable to keep any sort of employment, leaving him desperate. With no choice, he turns to his biological father asking for work. Not wanting Basil hanging around the Ministry in case anyone makes the connection, Minister Fawley comes up with a plan to employ Basil and keep him far away. He calls upon Newt Scamander, the magizoologist, to take Basil as his newest assistant to accompany him on his travels. Newt has experience with a wide range of the beast variety, however, during all his encounters, he's never dealt with a werewolf before. But there is a first time for everything as Basil joins Newt on his trip to the United States. However, it seems to be just their luck as they get involved in something much bigger.
