His eyes turn red and his jaw begins to tremble. "I'm toxic. I'm arrogant. I'm awful. What else? I'm a misogynist. A sadist. There's no good in me. I screwed up your life. I disgust you. I insulted your mother. You won't ever forgive me." He tightens his jaw before slamming his hand on the wall beside my head. "I know you want to say these things so say it. Tell me, Firefly. Tell me how traumatizing I am. TELL ME!"

I don't hesitate. "I love you."

His hooded eyes flaming with anger turn pale. He never expected the confession. Heck, I never expected this confession.
