Freddy loved her. Since First Grade, when Emelie transferred from the city, the class loved her. The town loved her. But she had secrets, they knew. A mysterious girl gone quiet, they had said. They had theories: kidnapped, ran away, joined a gang, beaten, bruised, killed, hid. Emelie had been the talk of the town, until there was silence. Since she left, there were secrets in the town.
Since she left, there was only crime and suspicion. Once a thriving town, now a mystery, like Emelie.
