Trick or Treat

"April, come out and play with me." Her words echoed through the empty hallway in a shrill giggle, the sound of something heavy being dragged accompanying her footsteps.

"Let's play our favourite - a round of duck, duck, goose. If you win, you can walk through that front door alive."

I knew that was a lie. You can't ever win duck, duck, goose. Not when your soul was on the line and five kids were already dead.
