"Daddy?" I ask softly, laying my head on his chest. Thomas immediately began to stroke the kitten's hair, a gentle hand.

"Yes, kitten?"

"Thank you for saving me."

Thomas pulled Alexander closed, pulling up the cat's chin and kissing his lips, "You don't need to thank me, Alex."
