Hazel Woods is a 7th grader who lives in rural Kentucky with her mother. Her only friend is Leo Montgomery. They've known each other for as long as they can remember. One day Leo goes into the forest where they always play to find Hazel. Not only does he find her but something that will change their life in a horrible way.
